Medical Treatment Policy
We do not perform Coronavirus and Influenza tests upon request. Only when considered necessary for diagnosis.
Precautions for entering the hospital
Please wear a surgical mask when visiting the hospital. All those who enter the hospital must wear a mask.
In general, only one person is allowed to accompany a patient during a consultation. This person cannot have a fever. Please arrange for someone without a fever to assist the patient.
Only children scheduled to see a doctor will be allowed inside the hospital. Children must also wear a face mask.
Interpreter Service
Providing safe and effective medical services in Japanese is our standard. Patients who require assistance to understand a medical consultation in Japanese are asked to be accompanied by an interpreter.
If an interpreter is unavailable, iPad translation or machine translation will be used.

Car Parking
Our parking lot is intended for outpatient use only.
A parking fee is charged in order to maintain operational efficiency.
Please refrain from parking overnight. When you are hospitalized, please ask someone to remove your car from the parking lot.

¥100 up to 4 hours
¥200 up to 8 hours- After 8 hours, ¥100 will be added each hour.
Maximum of ¥1,000 for 24 hours.

Unacceptable Behavior
Verbal abuse, violence or other disruptive behavior toward staff or patients is prohibited. If such incidents occur, you may be required to leave the hospital or we may request police intervention.
Unauthorized photography and recording are prohibited to protect personal information and privacy. Please refrain from sharing personal information on SNS and other online sites.
※If you observe suspicious behavior, inform the nearest staff member.
Outpatient Services
Our outpatient departments provide medical care to patients referred by local medical institutions (family doctor/primary care) who indicate a need for a thorough examination and treatment.

First, visit a local clinic/medical institution and receive a referral letter written in Japanese.

We are a medical institution for TRICARE beneficiaries in Okinawa.
- Visit a clinic or hospital on base and receive a referral letter.
- Make a Japanese version of the referral letter.

Emergency Department
Emergency treatment is prioritized to patients with imminent danger of death and who require treatment immediately. An evaluation of severity and emergency is conducted (triage), so be aware that the order of treatment may change depending on the situation.
- The same medical staff may be required to provide emergency care for ambulances and after-hours consultations. Please be aware that long wait times may occur.
We do not accept requests for routine medication refills or medical certificates, or things of low urgency.

How we calculate your medical expense

- Your total medical fee will be settled after the consultation is complete. This fee includes consultation, examination, prescription, treatment, materials, operation, etc.
- We use the Diagnosis Procedure Combination (DPC) system to calculate your medical fees. This system promotes standardization and transparency in our healthcare services.※1 medical remuneration point x 10yen

For Patients with Japanese Health Insurance

- 75 years of age or older are required to co-pay 10% of medical expenses (Please note that the amount may increase up to 30% based on your income).
- 70-74 years of age are required to co-pay 20% of medical expenses (Please note that the amount may increase up to 30% based on your income).
- High school students to 69 years of age are required to co-pay 30% of medical expenses.
- Children of junior high school age or younger are eligible for free care with the certification of “Children Medical Expense Subsidy Program” issued by the municipal government.

Regardless of age, if the out-of-pocket expenses for medical care exceed a certain limit, the excess amount will be reimbursed. You should apply to your health insurer in advance for the certificate.

For Patients without Japanese Health Insurance

- You will be responsible for 100% of the medical expenses. Each insurance company has a different refund procedure, so patients should contact their insurance company to receive their refund at a later date.
- If you wish to obtain medical documents to be submitted to your insurance company, please make a request as soon as possible.
- Note: A designated form may be required for a medical certificate to be submitted to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company in advance.

For TRICARE beneficiaries

- Active duty service members are exempt from out-of-pocket expenses by submitting a copy of “AUTHORIZATION FOR CARE”.
- Veterans, family members, and others are responsible for the full cost of their medical expenses. Please follow TRICARE’s plan to claim reimbursement.
Healthcare Services Not Covered by Health Insurance
Your insurer may not cover the cost of certain medical services and materials.

SENTEI RYOYOHI

If you are a new patient to this hospital and do not have a referral letter (a patient referral document) from another medical institution you will be charged (¥7,700 ) for a “SENTEI RYOYOHI”, in addition to the first visit fee.
If the patient still wishes to see our doctor, even after the patient’s condition has stabilized and our doctor has referred them to another medical institution, we will charge a “Selective Care Fee” (¥3,850) for each visit, in addition to the re-consultation fee.

Generally, prescriptions are issued as out-of-hospital prescriptions except in special cases.
The prescription is valid for only four days, which includes the issuing date. You can get your prescription medication(s) anywhere in Japan as long as the prescription is valid. (The prescription will not be dispensed after four days.)-
How to purchase prescription medication(s)

- You will receive a ticket to pick up your prescription when you pay the bill. Please pick up the prescription at Reception Desk #2.
- Take it to the nearest pharmacy—a prescription pharmacy [調剤薬局] near your home will work—and purchase the prescription medication(s).
- A representative can drop off a prescription and pick up medication(s) for the patient.
